how it started.

I started The Marketing Manager because I kept seeing small Canadian service businesses getting sold cookie-cutter marketing packages that didn't fit—and then blaming themselves when nothing worked.

I've been the first marketing hire at multiple companies. I know what it's like to walk into a business with no marketing systems, no clear strategy, and a founder drowning in conflicting advice about what they "should" be doing.

I genuinely enjoy helping businesses who've never had a marketing hire before. There's something satisfying about walking into chaos and building systems that actually work—and watching a business owner finally feel confident about their marketing.

My goal isn't to keep you dependent on fractional marketing support. It's to set you up so well that eventually, you outgrow me—whether that means hiring your own marketing person or managing it yourself.

Sure, sometimes you'll find quick wins or low-hanging fruit that get fast results. But sustainable marketing is about testing, tweaking, and building systems that work consistently—not just hoping for one-time spikes.
